The ISD Primary Basketball Team attended the AISD Elementary Basketball Tournament yesterday. 18 Hawks showed up bright and early, ready to play! It was their first time traveling away from the comfort and familiarity of ISD, but they were very fortunate to have their parents there for support. Also among the supporters were Ms. Sandra, Ms. Kimi, Mr. Mike and Ms. Jenal, who encouraged and cheered on our girls and boys with great enthusiasm!
The boys played three games, gaining more confidence and improving with each game. It was a whole team effort with each student contributing equally to the team's performance. In particular, they displayed tenacious defense! The girls played five games and persevered until the very last basket was shot. With each progressive game, the girls attempted and made more baskets. Both teams were remarkably knowledgeable about the rules of the game. Not only did they display their physical skills on the court, but it was obvious that their understanding of the game helped them to play better.
Most importantly, all the students had fun, represented ISD proudly, and showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the six-hour day! Their energy and smiles were truly contagious, and it was clear that the parents LOVED watching them PLAY!
Congratulations to all ISD students and thank you to all parents and staff members who gave up their time to come and support our young Hawks.
